Dear friends, Advent and Christmas blessings to you! As always, thank you for your support of this ministry to college students and young adults in Jacksonville & St. Augustine. Your financial and prayerful support over the years has made it possible for young people to find community, explore faith, and respond to Jesus’ invitation to “build up the ancient ruins, raise up the former devastations, and repair the ruined cities, the devastations of many generations.” (Isaiah 61:4) At the October meeting of CCW’s Board of Directors, the decision was made to stop on-campus ministries in Jacksonville and St. Augustine. Our founding executive director of CCW, Derrick Scott III recently announced his discernment to end this season of on-campus ministry in Northeast Florida and move toward what is next for his calling. You can read more about that here. As a result of Derrick’s leadership of this ministry disciples of Jesus have been made and sustained; the church has experienced renewal; communities have learned to tell our stories more truthfully so that we may be healed. We know that many of you share our profound gratitude for Derrick’s leadership as it has most likely touched you personally as well. This is a season of transition for campus ministry in Jacksonville and St. Augustine. We are not actively seeking to hire someone to replace Derrick as both the model he was leading and the funding needs for it are not currently sustainable. The CCW Board, together with the Northeast District Leadership team, will be discerning what the next era of campus ministry looks like over the next few months. We will be keeping you updated on that. We hope you will continue making contributions to CCW, and rest assured those dollars will be used to help us through this transition and support the new beginning of on-campus ministry in Jacksonville and St. Augustine. This update will bring up both gratitude and sadness. In the midst of that, we are all trusting Jesus to lead both Derrick and this ministry to college students and young adults into the next season of life.
